Sterling Shajani leads Star Field to 6-2 win over Korogocho Youth
28/07/21 Nairobi, Kenya
A sterling hat trick by Unaiz Shajani led Star Field Elite football team to trounce Korogocho Youth 6-2 in a friendly contest held at the Nairobi Gymkhana Club on Wednesday morning.

Shajani’s hat trick at the 15th, 24th and 49th minutes and strikes from Addis Panoam on the 55th minute, Isaac Mumu on 82 minutes and Zephania Alando on 84 minutes sank Korogocho Youth’s ship with a glossy four goal margin as the ‘boys in blue’ ran out comfortable winners while giving a statement of their attacking prowess – scoring two goals in the first half and four in the second.

Korogocho FC gave little competition to a dominant Star Field side and the latter dictated proceedings for much of the encounter, giving little time on the ball to the former.

Shajani was the destroyer in chief and began the goal rush in the 15th minute when he sidestepped his marking defender and blasted the ball into the back of the net to give Star Field the lead.

Nine minutes later Shajani again tapped home from a handshaking distance to double the lead. It seemed like a begging of a rout as the home side pressed towards the goal with every passing minute, while the visitors were left to launching counter attacks.
The home side’s prolific striker then completed his hat trick four minutes after the break when he made perfect contact with a Mujaheed Abdul’s lay off and volleyed home to make the score line read 3-0.

An eye candy of a goal for the Desai road based side came in the 55th minute that gave Star Field even further statement of their attacking instincts as Panoam went on a solo run that produced a great individual goal when he marched into the area, drew out the keeper and faked a pass to Shajani before slotting in an empty net leaving the visiting shot-stopper stranded to make it 4-0.

Although Korogocho FC pulled one goal back in the 78th minute it had little effect on the overall complexion of the match. Even in the second half Star Field gave little to no time to Korogocho FC to make a mark and Cyprian Andrew’s goal in the 82nd minute quelled any hopes of a dramatic comeback as Star Field once again took an unassailable four goal lead.

The home team completed the rout of their opponents in the 84th minute when Alando broke his duck with a well controlled pass before unleashing a delightful volley, which ended in the bottom right corner to score the sixth goal.

Korogocho FC did capitalize on Star Field’s defensive error to find the second goal and further reduce the deficit but it was an effort too late in the day as the referee blew the final whistle three minutes later.

There was a long-standing feeling this past week that the bare statistics around Star Field’s 2-0 loss to Naivas a fortnight ago did not portray a true picture of their abilities and they went back to winning ways in emphatic style at their backyard proving that their defeat was just a blip in an otherwise impressive post lockdown season.
